To ensure compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program requirements, merchants selling applicable categories of products into France and Germany on Wish are required to have valid EPR registration number(s) (also known as Unique Identification Numbers (UINs)) for these product categories. Please see this guide for more details on EPR program requirements, including specific product categories covered by EPR program requirements and Product Responsibility Organizations (PROs) that merchants can register with to obtain an EPR registration number for applicable product categories.
A. France
Currently, merchants are required to provide their EPR registration number(s) to Wish for applicable France-bound products to comply with Merchant Policy 13. Note that merchants who do not currently have EPR registration number(s) for applicable France-bound products may also face infractions imposed by the French regulatory authorities.
Merchants can submit their EPR registration numbers to Wish via Merchant Dashboard and API, and link them to applicable products - see below for more details. Please note that merchants who have already submitted their EPR registration numbers to Wish via email are still required to submit and link these numbers via Merchant Dashboard or API.
Submit EPR registration number(s) via Merchant Dashboard
1. Under the “Things to do” section on the Merchant Dashboard homepage, merchants will see an item titled “Prepare for France EPR compliance”. Click “Start setup” to proceed. Alternatively, merchants may navigate to Products > France EPR.
2. This will open a window containing the France EPR Declaration. Please carefully review this, and click “Agree and continue” to proceed.
3. Merchants will land on the “France EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility)” home page. Under the “EPR Registration Numbers” section, click “Add” under the “Actions” column to open the “Add EPR registration number” modal window for the given “Category”.
4. In the “Add EPR registration number” window, merchants can add their UIN (this is the same number as their EPR registration number) and PRO information. Check the box at the bottom of the window confirming that the provided information is truthful and accurate, and click “Submit”.
5. Once an EPR registration number has been submitted and the “Status” column displays “Approved”, merchants can use the “Affected Products” section below to apply their relevant EPR registration numbers to their products, by category*. Relevant products per category are automatically populated in the “Affected Products” section.
*Note that if merchants believe a product is incorrectly categorized, they may click the “Category Dispute” button under the “Action” column to navigate to the “Dispute Product Category” page. On this page, merchants may submit a product category dispute. For more information, see section “3. How to submit a Product Category Dispute?” in this guide.
6. To apply EPR registration numbers to “Affected Products”, merchants can click on the category of products they would like to link an EPR registration number to, such as “Primary Packaging”. Then, click the “Link” button under the “Action” column to link an individual product.
To link multiple products to an EPR registration number, select multiple products using the checkbox in the far left column, and click the “Link” button that appears at the top of the table.
Please note that one product may appear in multiple categories, and a product must have an EPR registration number for each category that independently applies.
Submit EPR registration number(s) via API
The following endpoints will now allow merchants to submit and edit EPR registration numbers for France via API:
- POST /api/v3/france_epr_compliance/product
- PUT /api/v3/france_epr_compliance/product
For more details, please see our Merchant API documentation page here.
B. Germany
Merchants selling applicable categories of products into Germany on Wish must take action to comply with Merchant Policy 13. Specifically, merchants must do the following:
- Provide an EPR registration number and relevant Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) information to Wish by July 1, 2022 for applicable Germany-bound products within the Packaging product category.
- Provide EPR registration numbers to Wish for applicable Germany-bound products within the Electronic and Electronic Equipment (EEE) January 1, 2023.
Please note that per current Germany EPR program requirements, there is no deadline for submitting EPR registration numbers for products within the Batteries category. However, merchants are strongly encouraged to procure EPR registration numbers for the Batteries product category as soon as possible and submit these to Wish. Merchants may face penalties imposed by the German regulatory authorities if they do not have EPR registration number(s) for these product categories by these deadlines
Merchants can now submit their EPR registration numbers to Wish via Merchant Dashboard and API, and link them to applicable products - see below for more details.
