Over the course of 2022, we have been evaluating our existing processes to best support key objectives, including strengthening the quality of product listings on Wish and boosting user confidence to enable merchant success. We have recently supported these objectives through various updates, including the release of Wish Standards and switching to an invite-only platform for merchants. In another significant step towards these objectives, we have introduced an updated product review process.
Ramping up to all merchants through 2022, all new product listings and certain edits (Title, Description, Images, Size, Color, and GTIN) on existing listings will be subject to an updated review process before they are considered active on Wish. While under review, new listings will not be searchable or purchasable on the Wish platform and relevant edits will not reflect as updated on active listings. Both new listings and relevant listing edits must satisfy the following criteria:
- All product listing content is compliant with the Wish Merchant Policy
- For all images, image DPI resolution is at least 72 and image dimensions are at least 500x500 pixels
New listings that do not meet the above criteria will fail the updated review process and remain unavailable for sale. Relevant listing edits that do not meet the above criteria will fail the updated review process and will not reflect as updated on active listings. The updated review process may take up to a few days to complete.
Please note that as a result of this updated review process, merchants may now submit edits on listings for top-selling products (signified by a yellow diamond badge in Products > View All Products) - merchants were previously unable to do so. Submitted edits for yellow diamond product listings are subject to the same updated review process as all other product listings
Merchants can currently manage listings under review via Merchant Dashboard or API. See below for more details.
Via Merchant Dashboard:
Review Status
Wish review of a listing will be triggered any time a new product listing is added or certain edits (Title, Description, Images, Size, Color, and GTIN) are made to a listing. The possible review statuses for a new listing or listing edits are as follows:
- Under Review: A new listing has been added or an existing listing has been edited.
- Approved: New listing has passed review successfully and is available for sale. Listing edits have passed review successfully and reflect as updated on the active listing.
- Blocked: A new listing or listing edits have failed review. New listings remain unavailable for sale, and listing edits will not reflect as updated on the active listing.
Merchants can find the Review Status for a product by navigating to Products > View All Products, clicking the 3 dots in the row of a product, and clicking View Product Listing Status. This will bring merchants to the Update Review Status page. Below the Review Status section, merchants can view the latest updates made to the listing.
For new listings and listing edits with a Review Status of Blocked, the relevant Blocked Reasons and/or Infraction will show under the Review Status. New listings or listing edits that were initially Blocked may be Approved if the Blocked Reasons and Infractions are addressed. Once addressed, merchants may make changes to the listing and resubmit, at which point the review process will restart.
Listing State
The Listing State of a product can be found under the relevant column in Products > View All Products.
The possible listing states are as follows:
- Active: Listing is Approved and has at least one variation available for sale.
- Wish Inactive: Listing is (a) newly uploaded and Under Review, (b) blocked, or (c) has been taken down.
- Merchant Inactive: Listing is not available for sale due to a merchant disabling the listing or setting inventory to 0 for all variations.
- Removed: Listing has been removed by the merchant or Wish.
Under the Listing State column, merchants can scroll over the question mark tooltip next to the relevant state to view more details. The tooltip messaging here will change depending on if the product is newly uploaded or edited, and based on the Review Status.
Merchants may also click the filter in the top right of the product table to filter products by State, Listing Enabled, and Badges.
Product Listing Feed Status
For products that have been added or edited via CSV, the Product Listing Feed Status page (Products > Product Listing Feed Status, previously known as the Product CSV File Status page) will display the status of CSV listing uploads under the Status column. The possible statuses are Under Review, Canceled, or Complete.
To see an individual breakdown of each listing and relevant Review Status for Complete CSV uploads, click on View Full Report under the Action column. On the relevant report page, click View All in the Items Updated row. This will open the Items Updated window.
The Review Status is visible under the relevant column, and merchants can click Listing Status under the Action column to see the relevant Product Listing Status page for more details.
Via API:
The following Products v3 API endpoints have been added to specifically help merchants manage their product listings under review.
- GET /api/v3/products/requests
- GET /api/v3/products/requests/{id}
- DELETE /api/v3/products/requests/{id}
The below Products v3 API endpoints have been modified to help merchants manage their product listings under review:
- PUT /api/v3/products/{id}/first_mile_shipping
- POST /api/v3/products
- PUT /api/v3/products/{id}
- DELETE /api/v3/products/{id}
- POST /api/v3/products/{id}/variations
- POST /api/v3/products/bulk_update
Please see our updated Products v3 API documentation for more information.
Sandbox Environment (relevant to ERPs only)
ERPs may test the updated review process in the Merchant Dashboard Sandbox environment, per the below steps:
1. Navigate to https://sandbox.merchant.wish.com/signup-testuser to create a new test account.
2. Complete the form on this page, and ensure the New “Automated Listing Review” Feature option is checked.
3. Check the Merchant Terms of Service agreement and click Submit to create the new test account.
4. Test the updated review process features as needed.
Over the next several weeks, we plan to steadily expand this updated review process to all merchants. By proactively ensuring that product listings on the Wish platform are high-quality and compliant, we aim to further cultivate a joyous and trustworthy shopping experience. This will, in turn, promote a healthy competitive environment for merchants and enable long-term success for both Wish and our merchants.
