Wish charges commission based on two progressive commission structures: One applies to European Union (EU)-bound orders and the other applies to non-EU bound orders. (Read how Wish charges commission to learn more.)
Important: The Commission Rate Only Model has ended and is only applicable to orders shipped within/to the EU and released to merchants between July 19, 2021, 7:00 PM UTC and July 6, 2022, 12:00 AM UTC AND orders shipped to non-EU destinations and released between July 19, 2021, 7:00 PM UTC and September 20, 2022, 12:00 AM UTC).
This article walks merchants through where they can find each order’s commission via Merchant Dashboard or API.
Via Merchant Dashboard
Navigate to the Merchant Dashboard Orders > Unfulfilled Orders page, select an order, and click “View details” in the dropdown menu under “Action” column to access the order’s Order details page. Merchants may then scroll down to the bottom of the Order details page and locate the Payment information section, where the commission for this order is displayed:
As shown above, not only the order’s commission is displayed (a percentage or an amount in the store’s local currency) in the “Merchant commission fees” line item, but other related information is also outlined for merchants’ information. Specifically:
- Basis for merchant commission fees: These are the factors that Wish used to calculate this order’s commission, according to the Merchant Policy, "Fees and Payments." Specifically, merchants may see some or all of the following factors being used to calculate commission:
- The corresponding product’s product category/categories (see more details below*)
- The order’s destination country/region
- The order’s Wish Express status
- The order’s origin region
- The merchant’s region of domicile or legal establishment
- Coming soon:
- Wish Standards' tier
- Item value
- Detailed calculation of each order’s commission fee amount (if subject to the progressive commission structure)
- Commission adjustment: any adjustments made to this order’s commission fees based specifically on a successfully resolved Product Category Dispute (see special note below*) that results in a change in commission.
Note that the above commission-related information is also displayed in the popup modal after clicking on the link under the “Payment Status” column on the Merchant Dashboard Orders > History page. Commission fees and any adjustments per order based on product category dispute will also be displayed on the Merchant Dashboard Payments > Payment History page after clicking on the individual Payment ID (to access each payment ID’s details).
* Special note on product category and Product Category Dispute process: Wish will display an initially-determined product category on the Order details page of a product’s first order released on or after July 19, 2021, 7:00 PM UTC. Subsequently, the same category will also be displayed on the Merchant Dashboard Products > View All Products page, along with each product’s “Edit Listing” page. This category (or in the case of multiple categories, the category that results in the lowest commission rate or amount for the order) is used to calculate the order’s commission fee. Merchants may in turn dispute this category if they believe the product is categorized incorrectly. |
Merchants may also see a “Merchant Commission Fee Level” displayed on the Merchant Dashboard Settings > Account > General Information page. Most merchants will see a “Standard” level display here and a link to the Payment Amounts Merchant Policy to learn about the current commission model(s).
Via API
Merchants may also view the commission fee per order via the Orders GET APIs, i.e., /orders/{id} and /orders endpoints. Specifically,
- For EU-bound orders subject to the EU progressive commission structure effective July 6, 2022, UTC, and non-EU bound orders subject to the non-EU progressive commission structure effective September 20, 2022, UTC, the commission fees per order can be retrieved using the newly-added ‘merchant_commission_fees’ field. (The previously-used ‘rev_share’ field will return “0” for these orders.)
- For all other orders subject to the previous commission rate only model, applicable to EU and non-EU bound orders during these time periods, the ‘rev_share’ field can still be used to retrieve commission rate per order, while the new ‘merchant_commission_fees’ field mentioned above will return “0."
In the coming months, Wish will actively work on streamlining the API experience of all orders’ commission fees as we roll out a progressive commission structure to non-EU-bound orders.
