What are promoted products?
Wish regularly runs promotional campaigns to drive additional traffic to products in our app. Products which have been selling well on Wish may be selected for promotion in our promoted products program. These products are programmatically chosen by Wish due to their relevant audience, conversion, and popularity.
How can I increase my products' chances of being selected for promoted products?
- Adding size and color information is critical. Click here for more information about how to do this.
- Make sure you add appropriate tags to your items! Tags are important for promotions. Click here for more information about adding tags to your listings.
We automatically promote sellers and their products to Wish users who've added similar items to their wishlists in the past. This happens thanks to a back-end relevancy algorithm that picks out these users and pushes your products into their product feed. From there, users can save your products and share them with friends. From there, it's a snowball effect: The more popular your product becomes, the more it shows up in users' feeds.
How do I know if my products are selected for the promoted products program?
In addition to an email notification, your products that have been selected for the promoted products program will have a yellow diamond icon overlay on the product image (as shown below) on the ‘View all products’ page on https://merchant.wish.com/product
What are the limitations on promoted products?
During the period your products are being promoted, you are unable to:
- Edit your main image
- Edit your additional images
- Edit your product title
- Edit your product description
- Raise your product or shipping price
- Lower your inventory
- Add new variations
- Disable existing variations
What should I do if I want to change my product price, shipping price, images, product description or inventory for a promoted product?
When products are uploaded merchants are encouraged to enter accurate information for the entirety of their products, from images, to product description, toshipping price, and inventory. This is encouraged because Wish’s back-end algorithm must effectively promote relevant products to the right consumers. We do not allow merchants to update products once they are promoted. Merchants are allowed to lower their product price, lower their shipping price, or increase their inventory levels for a promoted product, but you cannot raise prices or decrease inventory levels while your products are being promoted.
If you need to schedule a decrease in Inventory for a promoted product, use the Schedule Inventory Update tool.
How can I stop my products from being promoted?
We do not encourage amending your products once promoted. As our back-end algorithm regularly runs multiple campaigns to drive greater impressions of promoted products, we require the products to be available for purchase during the promoted period. If a store disables a promoted product with more than US$500 GMV in the last 9 days, the store will be fined $50.00 USD.
Please note that starting July 12, 2018 00:00 UTC, disabling shipping countries for promoted products may result in a fine. If the promoted product has $100+ in GMV in the last 9 days in the country that is disabled, the merchant will receive a fine of $50. This $50 fine applies to every countries disabled that has $100+ in GMV in the last 9 days.
