To help merchants understand their tax obligations for selling Wish products to France-based customers, Wish would like to remind merchants that as a result of such transactions carried out, merchants may have tax and social security obligations in France.
To find out about these tax obligations, merchants may consult the website of the French tax authorities: https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/node/10841. This link will explain to merchants how to report their income from activities such as the sale of goods.
In addition, to find out about merchants' social security obligations, merchants may consult the site of Social Security: https://www.urssaf.fr/portail/home/espaces-dedies/activites-relevant-de-leconomie.html. This link explains how to report merchants’ income and if their activity has to be submitted to social security contributions in France.
Wish is required to provide ongoing reporting to the French Tax Authority regarding our marketplace activities in France. They may use the data to assess and determine whether Wish merchants have met the tax requirements in France. If the French Tax authority determines that a Wish merchant is not meeting their tax requirements, they may direct Wish to prevent the merchant from selling to Wish customers in France.
We encourage Wish merchants who wish to continue conducting business in France to consult a tax advisor and/or French Tax Authority to ensure that they satisfy the French tax and social obligations.
In addition, please note that not all Wish merchants are required to register for VAT if they do not meet the obligations to do so.
And for merchants who are required to register for VAT, Wish offers Tax Settings in Merchant Dashboard for merchants to upload their VAT IDs if they are required to be registered.
