To help improve first-mile logistics efficiency and lower the logistics cost for Mainland China-based merchants delivering their inventory to overseas warehouses, the new Uni-Freight Program is launched on January 22, 2021 Beijing Time. The Uni-Freight Program is an additional logistics option that WishPost offers for merchants to consider for delivering inventory to their overseas warehouses located in select destinations.
Specifically, merchants only need to ship their overseas inventory to the WishPost-designated Uni-Freight warehouse located in China, and WishPost will subsequently deliver their inventory to merchants’ corresponding overseas warehouses. Currently, the program supports inventory delivery to overseas warehouses located in certain destinations, including but not limited to:
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United States.
For the latest list of the countries that the Uni-Freight Program supports, please contact WishPost Customer Service.
In addition, since April 1, 2021 10:00AM Beijing Time, the Uni-Freight Program has launched several limited-time discounts available to all WishPost merchants. Please see more details at the end of this FAQ.
This FAQ walks merchants through some commonly-asked questions about the Uni-Freight Program. To learn more about the Uni-Freight Program, please visit this website for more information on the Uni-Freight Program and the latest pricing cards: https://www.wishpost.cn/welcome/#/service/uni-freight.
1. To whom is the Uni-Freight Program available?
The Uni-Freight Program is available to all Mainland China-based merchants with overseas inventory operations. Merchants are not required to participate in this program, but it is one additional first-mile logistics option available to merchants.
2. How does the Uni-Freight Program benefit merchants?
Previously, self-delivering inventory to overseas warehouses has been challenging for small and medium-sized merchants, as they navigate complex operational processes, high logistics costs, and lost or damaged products. With the new Uni-Freight Program, merchants only need to deliver their inventory bound for overseas warehouses to the WishPost-designated Uni-Freight warehouse, and WishPost will deliver their inventory to merchants’ corresponding overseas warehouses. In addition to this simple operation process, the Uni-Freight Program also offers merchants a competitive service rate and compensation for lost or damaged products, effectively saving time, lowering their first-mile logistics cost, and improving last-mile efficiency.
3. What is the address for the Uni-Freight warehouse?
Merchants can deliver their relevant inventory to one of the following WishPost-designated Uni-Freight warehouses:
Hangzhou Uni-Freight warehouse:
- Address: 浙江省杭州市萧山区靖江街道保税物流中心9号仓库2楼
- Contact person: Yongxia Li
- Contact phone number for receiving packages: 18858141032
- Alternate contact information: Ming Xie 18094709032
Dongguan Uni-Freight warehouse:
- Address: 广东省东莞市黄江镇田星路39号巨卓科创园Wish联仓(黄亚伟 13556695210)
- Contact person: Xiaodong Luo
- Contact phone number for receiving packages: 18680611530
We may add more Uni-Freight warehouses as the program grows, and will promptly notify merchants of any updates.
4. How can merchants deliver their relevant inventory to the Uni-Freight warehouse?
Merchants can deliver their inventory to the Uni-Freight warehouse through various methods.
1). Pickup services:
Please note that the Uni-Freight Program offers pickup services that can pick up inventory at merchants’ locations and deliver the inventory to the Uni-Freight warehouse. Merchants may set up inventory pickup directly in WishPost to utilize pickup services. Currently, the pickup fee is only 1 RMB/KG for certain areas. To learn more about the pickup fees for different areas, please visit this website: https://www.wishpost.cn/welcome/#/service/uni-freight.
2). Merchant self-delivery:
Merchants may also choose the self-delivery method and offline contact any service providers themselves to help deliver orders to the WishPost-designated Uni-Freight warehouse.
5. What logistics channels does the program provide?
Currently, the Uni-Freight Program offers to transport merchants’ inventory to overseas warehouses via either air transportation, ocean transportation or truck transportation, available for merchants to select from.
To view the latest pricing cards for air transportation, ocean transportation and truck transportation channels, please visit this website: https://www.wishpost.cn/welcome/#/service/uni-freight.
6. How will the service rate be calculated?
Please note that for all inventory that arrives at the Uni-Freight warehouse, the packages’ length, width, and height will be measured. When the warehouse updates the package’s size to WishPost and the logistics information shows “Arrived at the Uni-Freight warehouse”, the service rate will be calculated based on the real-time price and charged from merchants’ WishPost account.
Note that the service rate will be charged based on the dimension weight or actual weight of the packages, whichever is greater. The dimension weight of the packages will be calculated as (Length x Width x Height) / 6,000 (measured in kg; less than 1kg will be rounded up to 1kg), as shown below:
For overstuffed and irregular packages, the Uni-Freight warehouse will measure the length, width, and height by using the longest point on each side. Any bulges or misshapen sides will be taken into account as well (see below for two examples):
To reduce strain and minimize the chances of damage to your inventories during transport, we strongly recommend packing your inventories according to the below requirements:
- We recommend packing the box as length × width × height : 60cm x 50cm x 40cm.
- Please use carton packing and select the appropriate packing according to transportation time and package weight (see guidance below).
Merchants can deliver multiple boxes in one shipping order. In this case, each box will be measured and the service rate will be calculated separately based on the dimension weight or actual weight of each box, whichever is greater. And the service rate will be added together to be the final service rate of the whole shipping order. Please note that, for air transportation channels, if a single box weighs less than 12kg, its shipping fee will be charged based on 12kg of weight; for ocean transportation channels, if a single box weighs less than 10kg, its shipping fee will be charged based on 10kg of weight.
For oversized boxes, the surcharge will be calculated and charged as below:
Dimension limit requirements for a single box |
Surcharge |
266cm ≤ (width + height)*2 + length of the longest side < 320cm |
180 RMB per box |
320cm ≤ (width + height)*2 + length of the longest side < 410cm |
850 RMB per box |
(width + height)*2 + length of the longest side ≥ 410cm |
Not accepted |
Length of any side ≥ 120cm |
180 RMB per box |
Length of the second longest side ≥ 75cm |
180 RMB per box |
Single box’s weight > 22kg |
180 RMB per box |
If merchants need to deliver many inventory packages or oversized/overweight boxes, please contact WishPost customer support in advance.
7. What if the package cannot be delivered to the overseas warehouses?
In order to avoid the inventory package being undeliverable, merchants must provide the real and valid address of the overseas warehouse and ensure the packaging meets the requirement of the corresponding overseas warehouse.
Please also note that the following receiving address will not be accepted: PO Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and military addresses.
If merchants need to deliver to overseas warehouses located in remote areas, a remote area surcharge may be charged based on the actual transportation expenses. For more details about the remote areas, please contact WishPost customer support in advance.
If the undeliverable package needs to be returned for any non-logistics reasons such as the return request from the receiver or the sender, or incorrect delivery address provided by merchants, the sender will be responsible for all relevant expenses.
For packages returned to Uni-Freight Program logistics partner’s warehouses in Canada, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and the United States, it will be kept for free for the first seven calendar days; if the storage time exceeds seven calendar days, each box will be charged for 5 RMB per day, with a minimum storage charge of 10 RMB. If the returned package needs to be re-sent to merchants’ overseas warehouse, the re-sending fee will be charged as 12 RMB per kg with an operation fee of 50 RMB per box.
8. Are there any prohibited products that the Uni-Freight Program does not accept?
Yes, air, ocean and truck transportation channels have their own prohibited products listed for each destination. Please visit this page for a full list of prohibited products for each destination.
Please note that merchants shall be responsible for all duties, taxes, infractions, and other fees incurred if packages are detained or returned by the customs as a result of concealing or smuggling prohibited products.
In addition, for products that need to be certificated, merchants also need to provide relevant certification before delivering. If products are identified as branded products by the destination customs or required to provide additional certifications such as Bluetooth, HDMI, FDA, FCC, Lacey Act, and DOT, merchants need to provide the corresponding documentation such as the Letter of Authorization or any other certifications. For FDA & DOT-certified products, please contact WishPost customer support in advance. If merchants need to deliver products with built-in batteries, which are only supported by sea transportation channels, please provide certifications such as MSDS and UN38.3. If the products are detained or even returned due to lack of the above documentations, merchants shall be responsible for all duties, taxes, infractions, and other relevant fees.
9. What is the Value Added Service?
The Value Added Service allows merchants to select the logistics channels with tax included or excluded.
1). Tax-included channel
For the Tax-included channel, it is optional for merchants to provide IOR (Importer of Record) when creating the shipping order. Tax-included channels will calculate the service rate including shipping fee, documentation fee, trucking fee, tax, customs clearance fee, delivery fee, and more, but will exclude the surcharge for high-value products. If you have any questions, please contact WishPost customer support.
2). Tax-excluded channel
For the Tax-excluded channel, it is mandatory to provide valid IOR (Importer of Record) when placing the shipping order. Tax-excluded channels will calculate the service rate including shipping fee, documentation fee, trucking fee, customs clearance fee, delivery fee, and more, but will exclude the tax. Merchants are also required to provide relevant certificates of export customs declarations and commercial invoices.
Note that all transportation channels that the program currently offers for delivering to Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands are Tax-excluded channels.
10. What if the inventory is lost or damaged?
The Uni-Freight Program provides compensation for any lost or damaged products for the situations below:
1). The time period covered: For merchants who use the Uni-Freight pickup service via WishPost, damage or loss of inventory that occurred during the time period from inventory pickup to inventory arrival at merchants’ overseas warehouses will be eligible for compensation.
For self-delivery merchants, damage or loss of inventory occurred during the time period from inventory arrival at the WishPost-designated Uni-Freight warehouse to inventory arrival at merchants’ overseas warehouses will be eligible for compensation.
2). Compensation for lost inventory: The shipping fee for delivering inventory from the WishPost-designated domestic warehouse to merchants’ overseas warehouses will be exempted and the declared value of the product will be compensated.
3). Compensation for damaged inventory: If the inventory is damaged and cannot be sold, compensation will be made based on its actual purchase price (up to its actual declared value). If only the external packaging is damaged, no compensation will be provided. Please make notes and provide evidence of the damage in POD (Proof of Delivery) when signing for the package.
Note that for 2). Compensation for lost inventory and 3). Compensation for damaged inventory, purchase documents are required to verify inventories’ declared values; otherwise, the compensation is up to $50.00 USD per box.
